Wendy Thomson Melling, founder of My Three Cats, has launched a national campaign calling for greater representation of cats within the UK pet industry. Named Cats Deserve More, the campaign seeks to spotlight the need for more products tailored specifically to their wellbeing.
While cats are expected to rival dogs as the UK’s most popular pet, cat-specific products remain limited in many retail environments. According to recent data from UK Pet Food, 29 percent of UK households own a cat, compared to 36 percent with a dog, yet shelves often reflect a dog-first approach. The campaign highlights the growing demand from cat owners for more choice, quality and species-appropriate products, spanning everything from enrichment toys to healthcare and behaviour support.
Wendy launched My Three Cats in 2017 and now operates a growing team of 17 sitters across Warrington. The business has won multiple accolades, including a Small Business Sunday award from Theo Paphitis, and Wendy is now preparing to franchise nationally, offering full training and brand support to aspiring cat-care professionals.
The Cats Deserve More campaign is supported by a growing online community and aims to encourage brands, retailers and product developers to reflect the evolving role of cats in family life.
