Helping to rehome hundreds of neglected, abused, and abandoned animals every year, Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter was the perfect charity partner for entrepreneur Gemma Stocks, founder of Herbal Dog Co.
Handmade in the UK using all-natural, human-grade ingredients, Herbal Dog Co. pledged to donate £1 from every sale of their Christmas scent to Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter. The funds will provide crucial support at a time when rising costs and the ongoing impact of the cost of living crisis are forcing many families to make the difficult decision to rehome their beloved pets or delay adopting a new one for financial reasons.
After totting up the final sales total, the small team presented Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter with a cheque for £1400 from sales of their ‘Snow Dog’ festive shampoo to the shelter earlier this month.
Founded in 2021, The Herbal Dog Company was designed with Gemma’s British bulldog Benson in mind. After doing extensive research, Gemma sourced herbal products online to help provide relief for Benson’s range of skin and gut problems to minimise how often he had to take doses of veterinary prescribed steroids which came with their own side effects. Fast forward to 2024 and The Herbal Dog Company are still committed to giving animals the very best natural, healthy ingredients, and thanks to their partnership with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter, they support dogs like Benson right on their doorstep.
‘Every single product we have created is centred around natural ingredients and contains no harsh chemicals’ explains Gemma. The product range includes joint and mobility supplements, itchiness relief tonic, gut health powders, supplements to support healthy teeth and gums, sensitive skin supplements and more. Using sustainable packaging is a big part of the company’s ethos too, and it is proving a big hit with the lovable characters currently looking for a home at the Shelter as Herbal Dog Company staff pamper the cats and dogs currently in kennels with treats from their range.
