Herbal pet care brand and PIF member Dorwest Herbs has won ‘New Product of the Year’ in the Heath & Hygiene category (Sponsored by Su-Bridge Pet Supplies) for BrainCopa® Tablets at the 2024 PIF Awards.
The PIF Awards ceremony was held in Stoke on Trent last week, announcing 25 categories of winners. The now award-winning BrainCopa® was developed to help support pets through cognitive decline, with natural, targeted, multi-action brain health and cognitive function support, to help keep dogs mentally agile well into their golden years. Dorwest Herbs was praised by the judges, referencing BrainCopa® as ‘an absolute gamechanger for senior dogs.’
While cognitive decline occurs in all pets as they age, it will be accelerated in some. This is often termed canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CCD), or ‘doggy dementia’, and is surprisingly common – thought to affect nearly 1 in 3 dogs over the age of 11 (MacQuiddy et all 2022). Google Trends shows search volume has doubled around these key terms over the past five years, emphasising the need for more natural support.
Dorwest developed BrainCopa® in 2023 with vets, containing an expert and unique formulation including DHA powder, an essential omega-3 fatty acid to help support brain development and cognitive function, particularly benefiting older dogs with age-related decline. Dorwest completed a customer trial of 21 dogs before launch in February 2023, including a variety of breeds between the ages of 7 to 15 years. Participants were surveyed on their dog’s symptoms before the trial and given a second survey on completion of the trial 28 day later. 90% of participants saw improvements in their dog’s cognitive symptoms, including a reduction in disorientation and sleep disturbances.

Managing Director Jo Boughton-White says: “We’re so incredibly proud to have won this award, especially for such an important product such as BrainCopa®. Our team are always so customer-focused and our authenticity shines through our digital experience and marketing. We’re delighted to be recognised among pet industry names and to continue to make a difference to pet’s lives.”
